The Battle for Indiana Public Education stands in support of these students that are fighting to bring their principal back to Shortridge High School. Brandon Cosby is a powerful educator trying to do something in a beleagured district and he's inspired his students to the degree that they've sent this email looking for support from the broader community.

The students at Shortridge need your help! We know you can help us with this. We also know you have alot of influence among community leaders and we need as many supporters as possible!
Our Principal Mr. Brandon Cosby was suspended pending an investigation regarding allegations of "insubordinance". This insubordinance stems from Mr. Cosby's desire to prove that Shortridge students are much more than a test score. Amidst much negative media concerning the failings of IPS as a whole, Mr. Cosby fought continually to make Shortridge a safe and inspiring learning environment, to foster connections with families, students, and the community. He is responsible for transforming Shortridge into what it is today. In order for Shortridge to continue to be set apart from other IPS schools, we need Mr. Cosby as our leader. Please let your support for our wonderful principal be known.
*These are the most important numbers to call. The point of this is to flood the phone lines with inquiries about what is going on. Please be respectful and ask questions such as “Why is Mr. Cosby suspended?” “When will he be returning to work?” rather than being accusatory or defensive. Brandon Cosby is not the leader he professes to be... The children love him because of his dramatic speeches and lack of consquences. Working under him is a nightmare. He is self rightous, often is dishonest, and shows a continual lack of ethics and morals in both his professional dealings and personal life. IPS has for once done the right thing with this upper level employee.

2. Can clearly explain the reasons for the goal
3. Identifies the decision makers and possibly those over the decision makers who can make the goal happen
4. Learns how to create discomfort among the decision makers by affecting their position, reputation/influence, economics/money, time, public exposure, and/or safety (the safety issue is reserved for extremists or terrorists and never recommended...)
I think before anyone comes out in support of Mr. Cosby, he/she should make sure to get the facts about his work and ideology.

ReplyDeleteThis man is the modern day equivalent of a snake oil salesman. He stands for nothing. As noted above, he just has the ability to speak in a blubbering know everything way that baffles people. Kids like him because he doesn't follow rules either.
ReplyDeleteMr. Cosby sounds like a principal concerned with the community he serves. While this is an admirable trait the reasons for his dismissal are not entirely known. It is concerning that he would be dismissed solely due to test scores that are not research based. I certainly hope White has his ducks in a row on this call. Caring administrators are valuable for our schools and hard to come by.
